Ally: Name, Career, Species
You have a trusted ally, another character in the game who has your best interests in mind. Your ally could be a brother, sister, cousin, or other relative. Or maybe your ally is a childhood friend who tags along on your adventures. In some cases, an ally could be a trusted servant, or maybe a bonded villain who owes you a debt of honor.
An ally is a Minor Character. Your ally has d6s in all Traits. Naturally, your ally has a Species and Career, and all the appropriate Gifts that go with them. Allies also start with a Gift of a Langage that you understand. Allies have no extra Marks in Skills, and they just have the seven Gifts they start the game with. (No Local Knowledge for Allies!)
Allies do not earn Experience – if you want your Ally to get better, you have to take the Gift of “Improved Ally”.
Like most Minor Characters, your ally is normally controlled by the Game Host. However, in some cases, the Host may let you control the ally. (For example, if the party gets split into two groups, your main character may go with one group, and your ally may go with the other. If the ally’s party runs into trouble, the Host may let you declare what the ally does.)
An ally always has your character’s best interests in mind. They will not betray your main character, unless they are somehow tricked into doing so, or unless they are convinced that a minor betrayal will somehow spare them from a worse fate.
