Stunt “Benediction”
Choose any Magical Gift that you know, that has a Refresh of either “X (Battle)” or “X (Respite)”. Now choose a target within Medium Range, and have them recite a prayer with you. The prayer can be any phrase you want, but most Clerics choose an appropriate one, such as, “Helloise, save me!”
If the target does not accurately repeat the prayer back to you – that is, if they resist this spell — Exhaust this Gift, and your spell fails. Targets that cannot speak coherently, such as Confused targets, may not repeat the prayer.
If the target accepts your Benediction, exhaust this Gift. The target of your Benediction is instantly rallied – remove any Reeling or Afraid effects on the target.
Sometime in the future, the target may call upon the spell that you declared, as a stunt. The target must turn to the heavens and recite the prayer you just told them, word for word, and then allow the Benediction to draw upon their personal faith.
The game effect is as if the target was the caster of the spell you just declared. Use the target’s dice for any rolls. Popular gifts for the Benediction include the White Magic Apprentice and Flesh Ward.
Regardless of the Gift you use for your Benediction, the target gets one and only one use of the Magic Gift. Whether they succeed or not, the Benediction ends after they perform the stunt and recite the prayer.
Even though this is a White Magic spell, you may use the Benediction with any “X (Battle)” or “X (Respite)” Gift, provided that Gift has the “Magic” descriptor.
This Gift can only be refreshed by praying for 8 minutes during the Office of Lauds (3 am to 6 am). Once this Gift is refreshed, any and all of your Benedictions expire.
