Stunt “Manifest as an Eidolon”
This spell allows you to project yourself as an eidolon, or magic representation of yourself, into an inanimate object. You must have a part of that object as a synedoche link. For example, to project an eidolon from a given tree, you could use a leaf from that tree. To project an eidolon at a campsite, you could use a rock from the campfire circle. You may not manifest an eidolon in a person or an animal.
An eidolon cannot move on its own from the spot from where it manifests. Others may move it, instead, provided it is not a tree or some other rooted object.
The eidolon resembles you, molde from the material that you are linked to. Following the examples above, your eidolon would take the form of an animate tree with your face in the wood grain, or the roaring flames of the campfire may take on the appearance of your grim visage. You cannot use your equipment, weapons, etc. — you are merely an artificial projection. You also may not cast spells.
You see, hear, and sense everything from where the eidolon is. (Eidolons are often used to look in on faraway places.) The eidolon doesn’t grant you any senses you don’t have, yourself, so if your eidolon manifests in a dark room, you won’t be able to see anything.
If you don’t want to be noticed, you’ll have to roll your Mind, Stealth, and d12 vs. any vigilant onlooker’s Mind, Observation, and Supernatural dice. (The bonus d12 is because you’re effectively disguised as something else.)
You can speak, and others will hear you. Eidolons are frequently used to communicate with people far away.
Meanwhile, your physical body remains at the original spot, clutching the material you are using for the link. While the spell is active, you are completely unaware of anything nearby. You are helpless against any attack.
From within the eidolon, you automatically resist any spells that test your Body or Speed (that is, “physical spells”); spells resisted by other dice work on you normally.
You may dismiss the eidolon at any time, thus canceling the spell; you immediately are sent Reeling, but at least you’re aware. The spell will also end if you are sent Reeling, Unconscious, or otherwise suffer an abnormal status such as Confusion, Fear, Silence, etc. Also, after five minutes, the spell will expire, and you will be sent Reeling.
The eidolon may be dispelled, or even destroyed. (The eidolon is just a physical object, after all.) If the eidolon suffers damage from an attack, you yourself are unharmed, but since any successful attack will send you Reeling, the spell will end.
