Description

In social situations, one can use Gossip skill to gather information from others. A person skilled in Gossip can find out the "real story" based on rumor and speculation.

Take one hour to use Mind & Gossip dice to speak with individuals in a crowd. A successful roll will help you find one or two people who can tell you something, or maybe you'll just get "the word" about what's going around.

If you're being observed, you can use your command of the art of conversation to slip a message only you and your confidant will understand. Roll Mind & Gossip dice vs. a difficulty set by the Game Host. Your observers will have to defeat your roll, using their Mind & Inquiry dice, or they won't even notice.

Gossip is a passive skill - when it's used correctly, folks won't remember that you've been using them for information. (We were just talking!) In role-playing situations, the Game Host can assume you spent about 50 minutes talking to folks before you finally hone in on the one person who really knows something, and then that scene can be role-played for about 10 minutes or so. A related skill, Inquiry can be used to ask questions of a target, but subjects of that skill are very well aware they're being questioned.
