Description

Badgers like to get their hands dirty; they eagerly muck about with tasks others would shun as too taxing. They crack boulders, engineer mines, forge anvils, haul megaliths, bore cannons, dig moats, fell timber, build dams, and other such feats. They meet the world through their hands. A badger with a hammer sees every problem as a nail.

They can get swept away in flights of fancy as any other weasel, yet with badgers this takes the form of construction rather than destruction; making things, rather than dismantling the world. They also tend to dig in and down, rather than look up and out; a badger won't share an otter's wanderlust, and feels no pull to the sea nor the sky. They are conservative homebodies who don't tend to go on grand adventures, unless by accident the adventure comes to them.

They do, however, dig fine ditches. Badgers are indispensible cogs in any successful siege engine and in laying the literal foundation for the tallest of cathedrals.
